A compact Scandinavian beech stool from the 1950s — spare, well-constructed, and entirely in keeping with the utilitarian design sensibility that made furniture from this period so enduring. The hexagonal seat and tapered legs are characteristic of mid-century Scandinavian workshop production: honest material, honest construction, nothing added that doesn't need to be there.
In practice it functions as well as it looks — extra seating, a footrest beside a reading chair, a plant stand in a well-lit corner, or a low surface for a lamp and a few objects. The patina and light wear are genuine, giving it a settled, lived-in quality that new pieces can't replicate. From a non-smoking, non-pet home.
Minor scratches and scuffs on legs consistent with age. Small burn mark on seat, shown in detail photos. Sturdy, no odors.
