Purchased from Neiman Marcus in the early 2000s, this exceptional piece beautifully pairs classic historical proportions with premium 21st-century manufacturing. The lamp features a remarkably heavy, solid brass baluster column rising from a deeply dished tray base—traditionally used in 18th-century French card games to hold melting wax and tokens. Four elegant serpentine s-curve arms branch outward, culminating in crisp, polished candelabra sockets. It is topped by a heavy, opaque ebonized tole painted metal shade that can be adjusted down the central brass rod mechanism to masterfully direct light and reduce glare. The high-pressure brass forging gives this substantial lamp an incredible, luxury weight. Thanks to its original factory lacquer, the brass remains brilliantly bright with an exquisite mirror-like reflection, completely free of pitting, flaking, or tarnish.
