With its imposing silhouette and unique history, this antique solid oak bar icebox is a rare piece from early 20th-century commercial design. Measuring nearly 2 meters in length, it testifies to the care once taken in crafting professional furniture, designed to last and serve generations.
materials: structure and fronts in solid oak with a natural golden honey hue. Interior and back fully lined with original zinc, a noble, antibacterial material characteristic of professional iceboxes of the period. Original nickel-plated fittings and hinges on all five doors. Engraved brass manufacturer's plate on the front: "p. Sasseigne - agencement général - 8, avenue g. Pallain - montargis (loiret)".
features: this antique icebox opens with five molded panel doors: four large side doors and a central half-door. Each door retains its original handle and nickel-plated hinges. The solid oak top provides exceptional storage and display space. The entire piece rests on low legs, giving it the silhouette of a sideboard. The interior zinc lining has been preserved in its original condition, including its natural patina and oxidation, embracing the signs of age.
now repurposed from its original function, this bar cooler has become a stunning and distinctive sideboard, ideal as a kitchen cabinet, back bar, storage unit, or centerpiece in an interior that blends antique and contemporary styles.
renovation: this cooler has been carefully restored to preserve its authenticity. The old refrigeration system and the deteriorated insulation were removed to clean the structure, while retaining elements that bear witness to its history: the interior zinc lining, the insulating hatches, and the construction details. The back panel was completely repaired, and the piece was treated against wood-boring insects. Finally, the cabinet was thoroughly sanded, carefully cleaned, and then protected with a colorless wax. The restoration respects the patina and the character of this piece of workshop furniture.
dimensions: w197.5 x d34.5 x h99.5 cm
a unique piece, at the crossroads of workshop furniture and artisanal heritage, that will bring a true presence to any interior.
