The chair features a handwoven rattan seat shell resting on a slender black metal frame, creating a light, architectural silhouette typical of mid-century European design.

Originally conceived as a stackable restaurant chair, the Basket Chair became one of Legler’s best-known designs and was awarded the Good Design Award by the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1953.

Its combination of natural wicker and fine black metal gives it a relaxed yet refined presence, equally suitable as a dining chair, occasional chair or decorative accent piece.

This example remains in good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use. The rattan shows a warm natural patina, with small irregularities and minor losses to the weave, consistent with age.
