This is a single piece of "Lettuce Ware" created by the legendary Palm Beach ceramicist Dodie Thayer (1926–2018). This piece is characterized by intricate, realistic veining and a brilliant "Duncan Irish Green" glaze. There is a signature on the base with an impressed handwritten signature.
The plate measures approximately 9" long x 7" wide x 1.25" deep. Handpainted
About the artist:
Commonly referred to as the "Pottery Queen of Palm Beach," Thayer began hand-molding these naturalistic ceramics from actual lettuce and cabbage leaves in the 1960s. Her work became a quintessential status symbol for high society, collected by iconic figures such as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the Duchess of Windsor, and C.Z. Guest.
