A beautiful and authentic Late 19th Century Chinese vellum (parchment) trunk showcasing the rich patina and character only time can create. The exterior is covered in textured vellum/hide over a sturdy wooden core, with a warm, aged beige finish that highlights its age and history.
The interior retains its original striking deep China red pigskin, making it as visually appealing when open as it is closed. This trunk comes with its original key, which functions perfectly with the original lock hardware. The structure is sound and fully operational.
Minor wear is present on the two front bottom corners — typical for pieces of this age and does not compromise the integrity or beauty. The overall condition is very good for a 19th-century example, with wonderful patina throughout.
