A striking pair of vintage pedestal end tables from the Guildhall collection by Drexel. Made in USA during the 1960s from richly grained oak, these tables are designed to resemble architectural columns or plinths. They feature stunning Ionic-style volute scrolls, a detailed egg-and-dart style trim, and deeply carved recessed arches along the base. The square tops showcase beautiful four-way bookmatched cathedral grain oak veneers that radiate from the center, making them as beautiful from above as they are from the side.
These substantial, low-profile pedestals work beautifully as side tables, unique nightstands, or sculptural statement pieces to display art and ceramics.
The "Guildhall" collection was introduced by Drexel during the mid-20th century as part of their highly successful strategy of marketing coordinated room collections. While the collection leaned heavily into traditional English and early American revival styles, these particular Neoclassical architectural pedestals were designed to bring a grand, classical touch to 1960s interiors.
