This is a gorgeous Original Watercolor painting done on heavy Arches Paper by Listed California artist, Rich Buchwald (1925-2009). Buchwald studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his works have been exhibited worldwide. His delicate yet deliberate brushwork creates beautiful atmospheric paintings unlike any other. He is best known for his California landscapes, seascapes, and tasteful nudes. He has won countless awards for his work.
This is a tremendous example of Buchwald's work depicting a beautiful California mission with lush gardens and figures gathered beneath the archways. His masterful use of transparent watercolor and confident brushwork beautifully captures the warmth, light, and tranquility of one of California's historic Spanish missions. Signed in the lower right. Sold unframed. Will ship flat and boxed to preserve integrity.

• About the Artist: Wesley Richard "Rich" Buchwald was born on March 31, 1925, in Chicago, IL. He received his B.A.E. degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his M.A. from Northwestern University. For more than 30 years he worked as a teacher in the Chicago Public School system and became a United Scenic Artist for CBS and NBC-TV. His artwork has been exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and has won many awards. He was on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild and was a member of the Society of Marine Artists and the Watercolor West Society. His work has been published in The Best of Watercolor Series, Light and Shade by Rockford Publishers in 1997 and the “Foss Maritime Calendar”.
Buchwald passed away in February 2009.
