30" Vintage Chinese Hand-Etched Brass Tray Wall Hanging featuring the Chinese symbol for good fortune and prosperity- Fu (福). Dated 1940s - 1950s mid-century with intricately hand-etched designs of auspicious animals (birds, phoenixes, deer, etc.). Beautiful patina with a hanging hook on the back with felted backing to reduce vibration. A substantially heavy piece.
Fu (福)- meaning good fortune and prosperity, has been a stronghold symbol in Chinese culture dating back to the Song dynasty (AD 960–1279). It is widely used during the Lunar New Year to invite positive energy into a home.
Often seen hanging in the office or home office to welcome luck and wealth or used as a serving tray for large celebrations such as weddings and tea ceremonies, anniversaries, etc.
