It appears to … Read more Antique 18th century or earlier European polychromed carved wooden female form with scroll work designed columnar base. It appears to be architectural salvage as you can see it was connected to more wood on the back as well as the broken up bottom.

I have seen figures like this lining the top of the walls in the great halls of castles in Europe. Some old churches in Europe would honor major patrons by featuring their likeness at their pew. It also reminds me of the figureheads on ships, but is far too small measuring only 39” tall.

Her dress appears to be that of a medieval era noblewoman in her finery. She is missing an earring- which makes her completely relatable (lol). Most of her fingers are missing but overall she’s incredibly beautiful and intact enough to be a super impressive piece. She has some dirt on her that one might try to clean up, but I think it’s from years of smoke exposure and is part of the mystique of the piece. A tell-tale sign of her age- she was here long before electric light.

You’ll be hard pressed to find such a beauty like this every day! See less
