A grand and substantial 20th century oak trestle table built in the country French provincial farmhouse style. The table measures over 8 feet wide and features a pair of distinctive spade shaped legs. The table is constructed with a massive 2.75 inch thick plank top joined from wide-grain quarter-sawn oak boards with visible joinery on the underside. The top rests on a sculptural trestle base of paired spade form supports, each pierced with an open heart motif cut-out and joined by a single long stretcher with wedged through-tenon keys at each end. The trestle legs end with shoe feet and are shaped with stepped, scrolling profiles that echo 18th century French monastery table forms. The table is finished in rich oak in warm dark honey tones highlighting the natural wood grain and figuring. The table has a distinct profile crafted in the country farmhouse French Provincial style. The table has ample leg clearance measuring 27.25 inches from floor to the apron. The frame has a handsome profile and classic Euro skinny dimensions for intimate dining. The table is sturdy and strong with excellent joinery and craftsmanship in exceptional condition. The top is very flat and true given size and dimensions.
