Warman's skill is impressive and the detail to the face is exceptionally fine, executed with the delicate handling of a miniaturist. The painting is drawn in pure watercolour to the face, with grey wash and graphite to the body and clothing; as a result the refined facial features radiate from their monochrome surroundings.In watercolour and graphite.
