Ward, Figures in a Wooded Landscape.A finely detailed woodland subject by Birmingham artist William H. Ward (fl.1850–1882). Ward was one of a group of artists influenced by the highly detailed still lifes of William Henry Hunt. He was also inspired by the Pre-Raphaelites, with their love of nature, attention to detail and fine brushwork quality. Ward was elected a member of the Birmingham Society of Artists in 1856 and he also exhibited in London at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and Suffolk Street.All artworks come with a Certificate of Authenticity and in some cases an accompanying text or artist biography. Signed: Signed lower left. Inscribed: Inscribed indistinctly lower left and right. Dated: Dated indistinctly lower left.
