brand: christofle, paris. Founded in 1830 by charles christofle, the company became the official supplier to louis-philippe and later to napoleon iii, for whom it created a monumental 4,000-piece tableware set presented at the 1855 world’s fair. In the 20th century, christofle adapted to changing tastes with modern design collections, including the famous albi (1968), characterized by simple and functional lines, and the atlante (1968), described by the company itself as pieces with essential, rigorous lines and no ornamentation.
