This 1960s Lane "First Edition" armoire is a handsome example of American mid century modern design, built in warm walnut with a tall, architectural profile. A pair of vertically reeded doors gives the upper cabinet a richly textured, fluted front, while three sculpted, bullnose drawers below add soft, rounded relief. The whole wardrobe is raised on splayed, tapered legs that lighten its tall stance and lend it a clean, modern silhouette.
Behind the reeded doors, the cabinet is fitted as a gentleman's wardrobe: a center-divided interior with an adjustable shelf creates four open compartments, a mirror is mounted to the inside of one door and a metal tie-and-belt rack to the other, and a concealed interior drawer sits below. Three roomy exterior drawers, each with sculpted recessed wooden pulls and dovetailed solid-wood boxes, handle folded clothing. It is a versatile storage piece for a bedroom, dressing area, or entry, and is marked Lane First Edition.
