The painting is the 410th out of ONLY 850 produced. The custom-built frame is solid wood finished in a silver tone. Theodor Seuss Geisel's original painting, from which this work is adapted, was first created circa 1970. This work is included in The Art of Dr. Seuss collection, a collection comprised of significant limited editions adapted from Dr. Seuss's original drawings, paintings, and sculptures created for his own personal enjoyment, as well as those created for his most well-known children's books, advertising illustrations, early political cartoons, and editorial compositions.

Provenance: The painting was purchased in 2013 by the owner (A family friend) at Dennis Rae Fine Art - The Art of Dr. Seuss, an independent art gallery in Carmel-By-the-Sea that specializes in the Secret Art of Dr. Seuss. The Art of Dr. Seuss gallery offers estate authorized reproductions of Dr. Seuss' original drawings, paintings and sculpture. Please see photos for proof of purchase from an authorized gallery.

Why is it signed "Stroogo Von M." and not "Dr. Seuss"? Seuss's wife Audrey explained, “Ted liked to hang that artwork in the entryway of the ‘Seuss House’ [the Geisel home]. When people would come in, they would invariably ask about the painting. Ted would answer, ‘That’s my Stroogo Von M. How do you like it?’ In return, what he would get from friends was an honest opinion without them knowing it was his painting. It was one of Ted’s great practical jokes. On occasion, someone would say, ‘Ah yes, I know Stroogo’s work,’ which would say something quite different about the house guest.”

This mixed-media pigment print is created using a combination of pigment inks, specially calibrated fine art digital printers, and serigraphy on canvas. The combination of pigment inks and serigraphy is utilized to reproduce the brilliant depth and vibrancy of the original painting.

The entire edition is printed on archival canvas. The dimensions of the image is 36" × 24" with an additional canvas border.
Kolibri Art Studio was selected to print this edition at its atelier in Torrance, California.
This edition commenced in 2011. There are 850 prints numbered 1/850 - 850/850, 99 Patrons Collection prints numbered 1/XCIX -XCIX/XCIX, and 155 Collaborators' Proof prints numbered CP 1/155 - CP 165/155. There are 2 Printer's Proof prints numbered PP 1/2 - PP 2/2 and 6 Hors d' Commerce prints numbered HC 1/5 - HC 5/5. Total size of the edition is 1111.
