I created Dancing as the Sun Dies to show a moment of pure joy as the day ends. The figure in the painting is turned away, reaching toward the final glow of the sun. She uses her dance and a white handkerchief—usually a sign of giving up—as a way to celebrate instead.
This work is a tribute to how people can find rhythm and grace even when things are changing or getting dark. I used thick, energetic brushstrokes to capture that spark of life. It shows that we can always find a way to stay strong and happy, even when the shadows grow long.
