An impressive Italian carved marble figural group depicting The Rape of the Sabine Women after Giambologna's celebrated Mannerist masterpiece. Executed in solid white marble with warm honey-colored veining, the sculpture faithfully captures the dramatic spiraling composition and extraordinary sense of movement that made the original one of the defining works of Renaissance sculpture.
The three intertwined figures rise in a dynamic vertical composition, allowing the sculpture to be appreciated from every angle. The carving displays strong anatomical modeling, expressive facial features, and fluid transitions between the figures, reflecting the influence of late 19th- to early 20th-century Italian marble workshops known for producing museum-quality reductions after celebrated Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces.
Standing an impressive 35 inches high, this substantial sculpture commands attention while remaining suitable for a refined interior. Whether displayed in a library, gallery, formal living room, or curated collection, it serves as a striking focal point and a sophisticated example of classical revival sculpture.

The sculpture exhibits expected wear, including scattered minor chips, edge abrasions, and surface wear commensurate with age. Professionally executed old restorations are present to several projecting elements, as is common with large antique marble figural groups of this complexity. The marble retains an attractive natural patina with warm veining throughout. Structurally sound and stable, the sculpture presents exceptionally well and remains an impressive display piece. less
