According to the family, the artist attended … Read more A figurative and imaginative carved sculpture in stack laminated black walnut circa 1960s. According to the family, the artist attended the Brooklyn Museum Art School and received his MFA from UMass. His career lasted only until his mid 30s when he gave up art, becoming a custom home builder to support his growing family. He was heavily influenced by both African (Chokwe) and Persian textile art and traveled in those regions throughout his 20s collecting extensively. He collaborated with the artist Joe Barnes on a commissioned mosaic mural for the Mt. Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, exhibited in the late 1950s and early 60s at the Silvermine Arts Center in Norwalk, CT, and taught in the art department at VCU from 1968-70. See less
