Henri Joseph Thomas (1878–1972) was born in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean (Brussels) and is best known for elegant scenes, female portraits,

nudes, still lifes, and Belle Époque illustrations.

He took part in numerous international exhibitions, including the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts (Paris, 1905–1910), the Cercle Artistique

et Littéraire (Brussels), and the Venice Biennale (1912).

His works are held in museums in Brussels, Bruges, Liège, and other European cities.

Both the frame and the oil painting have been professionally restored.
