This Napoleon III period sewing table, crafted from ebonized wood, is distinguished by its delicate marquetry of brass inlays forming refined frames and graceful garlands surrounding a vase of flowers on top. Its drop-front, partially mirrored on the inside, opens to reveal a compartmentalized interior, designed for the careful organization of small objects. A drawer in the frieze is adorned with a chased key. The whole rests on four tapered, fluted legs embellished with slender asparagus-shaped feet. These are elegantly connected by a stretcher, giving the piece a harmonious silhouette and a typically Second Empire charm, where the finesse of the cabinetmaking is combined with the preciousness of the brass ornaments.
