Pol Chambost – Rare Model 1059 Orangeade Set, circa 1955
A rare and remarkable glazed ceramic set designed by Pol Chambost, comprising a Model 1059 pitcher and twelve matching cups.
Made in the 1950s, this set perfectly illustrates the organic and sculptural vocabulary developed by Chambost, a major figure in post-war French ceramics. The pitcher's fluid lines, accentuated by an elegant arched handle and a slightly constricted base, harmoniously complement the shapes of the cups.
The satiny off-white glaze contrasts with a vibrant vermilion interior, a signature color particularly sought after in the ceramist's work. This contrast between exterior simplicity and the intensity of the interior color gives the set an exceptional graphic and modern presence.
Both a functional object and a decorative piece, this service is an iconic example of 1950s French design. Rare in this complete set with its twelve original cups.
