It is … Read more An original and unique artwork—a watercolor on paper depicting a country cottage in Hervé (Liège)—by José Wolff (1885–1964). It is signed and dated (June 1924) at the bottom right and on the back.

This lovely small painting is housed in its original frame: a classic gold-colored, Baroque-style frame made of pine wood.

José Wolff (born in Liège on February 18, 1885; died in Liège on February 23, 1964) was a Belgian painter known for landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and nudes. He also designed posters and was associated with the Walloon Luminist movement.

While he primarily painted in oil on canvas, wood, or paper, watercolors by this artist are less common.

The item is in very good antique condition; there is no damage to the artwork itself. The frame is also in good antique condition consistent with its age and material, showing some signs of age and use at the corners, yet the piece remains very solid and looks excellent for being over 100 years old—please see the photos for details.
