A poetic tribute to Provençal cuisine, crafted by the potters of Vallauris.
This magnificent "Pistou Soup" soup set from the Saint Joseph pottery comprises a covered tureen and five matching soup plates in handcrafted earthenware. The cursive inscription engraved on the tureen, the hand-painted Mediterranean vegetables—eggplant, tomato, yellow pepper—and the speckled green rim warmly evoke the sun-drenched kitchens of the South.
The lid, adorned with a dark green enameled knob and embossed leaves, elegantly crowns the set. Each plate features a carefully designed central motif: an ochre-yellow mortar with a pestle, surrounded by lush leaves against an off-white background. On the reverse, the potter's stamp attests to the authenticity of this Vallauris production from the 1970s.
Light wear, consistent with its age and appreciated use—proof that it has been enjoyed by many.
