An original signed Erwin Eisch art glass sculpture dating to 1972. This is a small but very sculptural piece in deep purple-blue glass with a biomorphic, abstract form that feels somewhere between a vessel, a figure, and a surreal object. The shape has a strong studio glass presence, with a rounded, asymmetrical body and a folded, organic quality that changes depending on the angle.
The color is especially nice in person, reading as a rich indigo-purple with lighter translucent areas and a glossy surface that catches the light well. It has the one-of-a-kind feel you want in an Eisch piece and works equally well as a standalone sculpture or grouped with other studio glass and postwar design objects.
Signed and dated 1972. A distinctive example of Erwin Eisch’s experimental studio glass work and a strong piece for collectors of German art glass, modernist sculpture, or one-of-a-kind decorative objects.
