A terracotta Saint Joseph with Child, a fine example of Bolognese sculpture from the 1700s, from the circle of Angelo Gabriello Piò (Bologna 1690–1770).
Modeled as a full-length figure, the saint stands barefoot on a square base, dressed in an ochre cloak over a light green alb. He holds the Child in his arms with open arms, while they gaze lovingly at each other.
The sculpture was restored because, in the past, a supplementary restoration was carried out to repair a repair to the legs, completing the drapery of the alb down to the base for stability. The figure was restored to its original condition by removing all additions. This Saint Joseph dates back to the 1700s and comes from a private collection in Milan.
