This vintage modular corner sofa in light beige fabric is attributed to the historic Italian manufacturer 1P (Industria Chimica per l'Arredamento). These models, dating back to the 1960s and 1970s, are known for their modularity and ribbed backrests. These modular systems were very popular during the modernist period due to their versatility and comfort. It features the soft, curved lines characteristic of the Italian Space Age or Pop Art style of that decade. The sofa is composed of four independent modules (including corner and end elements with armrests) arranged in a semicircle. The complete sofa set also includes two matching armchairs with the same upholstery. The fabric is a beige/sand corduroy, very popular in the 1960s and 1970s for its warm and comfortable texture. Sectional sofas from this era, though often unmarked, were made by historic upholstery manufacturers of the time and are now highly sought-after pieces on the modernist and vintage collectibles market.
