A solid oak two-door cabinet by henning kjærnulf, denmark, 1960s. The door fronts carry kjærnulf's signature geometric cross-panel relief — raised mouldings forming a bold cruciform motif across each door, executed with the precision of a skilled workshop cabinetmaker.
the upper cabinet section rests on an open base with turned baluster legs connected by a scalloped stretcher — a direct reference to 17th-century danish baroque furniture reinterpreted through a mid-century lens. A single full-width drawer below the cabinet body is fitted with forged iron ring pulls and a diamond-form escutcheon, consistent throughout the piece.
the top panel exhibits exceptional ray figuring — dense, medullary flash across the entire surface — revealing the quality of timber selection. The interior offers two adjustable shelves with ample storage capacity.
a rare dual-language piece that bridges baroque formalism and scandinavian modern restraint. Works exceptionally well in japandi, organic modern, and dark nordic interiors. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
