The Abbeville Press edition (1985) of the Trumpeter Swan (Plate 406) facsimile is a world-class reproduction of John James Audubon’s masterpiece, matching the exact Double Elephant Folio scale of the 1830s original artwork.
Taken from The Birds of America book by John James Audubon. The massive dimensions of 39.5x26.5 allow the Trumpeter Swan to be viewed at its actual, true-to-life size.
The "Anatomical Fold" because the swan is an immense waterfowl, Audubon forced it into a dramatic, low-neck posture with its beak almost touching the water so its entire body could fit onto the paper without shrinking the scale.
