A dramatically sculptural Murano art glass fish caught mid-leap, rendered in deep amethyst and lavender sommerso glass with an all-over bullicante (controlled bubble) field that catches light beautifully from every angle. The body transitions from rich purple-black at the spine through soft lilac at the belly, with clear crystal fins and tail featuring hand-applied ribbing detail and an expressive open-mouth head with gill and eye work throughout.
Measuring an impressive 13” long by 14” tall, this is a large-format sculpture with genuine presence — substantial enough to anchor a console, mantel, or bookshelf display.
This is substantial, weighty studio-quality work consistent with the golden era of Murano glassmaking (1950s–1970s), when houses such as Seguso, Barbini, and Cenedese produced fish sculptures of this type for the international luxury market. Unsigned, as was common with production from this period.
A striking statement piece for a bar cart, console, library, or collector’s display.
