Soft Alchemy is one of the paintings from Daniel Kettlehut’s Karma and Rebirth series, exploring transformation and the subtle interplay of past and present. Rooted in the Buddhist concept of dependent origination, the work reflects how every moment and form is shaped by preceding conditions, creating a continuous cycle of change.
Built through layered transparent glazes interspersed with opaque passages, traces of earlier compositions remain visible, revealing the dialogue between concealment and emergence. The palette of blue, dark blue, white, and grey conveys calm, depth, and introspection, while flowing drips and delicate gestures suggest movement, flux, and impermanence. Hovering between abstraction and figuration, the painting invites the viewer to engage intuitively, experiencing transformation as a layered, ongoing process of revelation and resonance.
