This classic mid century modern Eames Sofa Compact Model S-473 produced in 2005 has been professionally reupholstered in a Maharam … Read more This classic mid century modern Eames Sofa Compact Model S-473 produced in 2005 has been professionally reupholstered in a Maharam limited color reissue of Jacob's Coat, a beautiful multicolored striped wool fabric originally designed by Alexander Girard in 1959. The Eames compact sofa is well-built and solid and features a collapsible backrest with two foam pads with a reinforcing cord welting detail and urethane foam seat cushions supported by fabric-reinforced rubber webbing on a steel and wire-spring armature. The steel sofa frame is black enamel with silver chrome-plated tubular steel legs. Herman Miller label dated 2005.

Charles and Ray Eames designed the Eames Sofa Compact in 1954 based on a built-in sofa the couple had designed for their Pacific Palisades home in the 1940s. This freestanding version has been in continuous production ever since. The iconic mid century design is clean and minimalist - great for small spaces and providing a modern light and airy profile in large spaces. Perfect for home or office.

CONDITION
Excellent vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. Newly reupholstered. Minor patina to frame.
