A stylized tail is attached to its back, and the figure of a deity seated in prayer, a Buddha, is embedded in the front shoulders. Also in correspondence with the front shoulders are two rectangular imposts, perhaps for missing wings. This highly decorative antique fantasy sculpture has Asian origins, likely Indonesian, and judging by the oxidation of the pigments, dates back to the 19th century. See less
