Offering a magnificent, statement-scale french boulangerie (bakery) basket, originally sourced from an antique market in Santa Barbara, California in the 1990s. This exceptional piece features traditional handwoven wicker construction paired with a heavy-duty slatted wood bottom, a design element originally meant to let flour shake through and allow hot, fresh-baked bread to vent.

At a massive 32 inches long, this commercial gathering crate is an incredibly rare find. Most surviving European bakery baskets are smaller countertop size, making this oversized piece highly coveted for high-end interior design and styling. Its generous proportions make it a spectacular functional decor piece for modern farmhouse, European country, or organic modernist interiors. Perfectly sized to hold large bundles of firewood, store plush throws and blankets in, as a dramatic laundry basket, a lovely addition to your bakery, or my favorite idea the ideal puppy bed. This basket is in excellent investment grade antique condition. There are no breaks, unravelling, or structural damage to the woven wicker sides, handles, or base. The wood slats are completely intact and structurally sound. It boasts a rich, deep honey-brown aged patina across the willow and wood handles that only decades of authentic air exposure can produce.
