The original composition is traditionally attributed to Lysippos, the renowned Greek sculptor of the 4th century BC, whose innovative treatment of proportion and naturalism profoundly influenced the development of Classical sculpture. The figure portrays Hermes, the messenger of the gods and protector of travelers, merchants, and heralds, in a moment of repose. Leaning gracefully against a rocky support, the god is represented with the calm confidence and idealized anatomy characteristic of the finest Hellenistic and Late Classical sculpture. Cast in bronze during the second half of the 20th century, this sculpture faithfully captures the elegance and harmony of the ancient prototype while benefiting from the durability and decorative appeal of modern bronze casting. The rich patina enhances the modeling of the musculature and the subtle details of the composition, emphasizing its sculptural depth and visual presence. with its monumental dimensions, the work is ideally suited for gardens, courtyards, entrance halls, galleries, or architectural settings, where it can serve as a commanding focal point and a tribute to the enduring legacy of Classical art. A remarkable sculpture that combines mythology, archaeology, and timeless aesthetic beauty.
