The sideboard measures 59.5” long, … Read more This is an elegant Louis XVI style sideboard cabinet with marble top and faux marquetry. The sideboard measures 59.5” long, 20” wide, and 33” tall. The piece is unmarked but likely imported in the late 20th century.

The French style sideboard base has a serpentine front with a central stack of 4 drawers flanked by 2 doors that open to reveal a spacious storage space, each with 1 removable shelf. There are beautiful marquetry designs throughout, including floral motifs on the door fronts and sides. I believe at least some of the marquetry is printed, especially on the door panels, but I’m not 100% sure, as it is pretty well done. Bronze mounted figural ormolu on the corners and front feet. The marble top is a pink Breccia style stone. The table top under the marble is fully finished, so the piece can be used with or without the stone.

The late 20th century sideboard is in good vintage condition. The cabient is very sturdy and stable. All the drawers and doors work well. The marble top is in good condition with a few faint scratches, a small chip on a back corner, and a small piece missing on the top. The marquetry is in a good shape except there is noticable haziness on the door panels. There is also bubbling on the veneer on one leg, and a hole in the veneer on a back leg.
