Ludovico Diaz de Santillana's interest in glassmaking came through his marriage to Anna Venini, daughter of Paolo Venini, founder of the Venetian glass company of the same name. Upon Paolo Venini's death in 1959, Diaz de Santillana took over the company's artistic direction in collaboration with Tobia Scarpa. He demonstrated a remarkable ability to combine the tradition of Murano glass with contemporary artistic trends and design movements.
The 'Anemoni' series was designed in the mid-1960s: table lamps and chandeliers of various shapes (sphere, bulb) were made of translucent glass, often with bubbles (pulegoso) and contrasting colored glass rods: white, green, or orange, as in our case. The chandelier has been re-wired and is in perfect working order. The ceiling cup is original, and the length of the suspension cable can, of course, be adjusted as needed.
