A vibrant and lively mixed-media kinetic sculpture signed Prescott and dated 1997, capturing the unmistakable energy of South Beach's Art Deco district. The dichotomy between the real and the fantastical in Prescott’s artwork leads to the creation of a multi-dimensional art form. Using the visual and emotional impact of brilliant color on moving steel, the artist produces sculptures reflecting his singular perception of the world around him. This piece features brightly painted metal cutouts depicting classic Miami architecture such as the Colony Hotel and Beacon Hotel along with palm trees, beachgoers, and vintage convertibles cruising Ocean Drive. The layered cut-steel figures are engineered with movable elements, giving the scene a playful sense of motion and rhythm. The sculpture is mounted on a substantial black metal base and is marked “1160”, indicating it comes from a limited production series. Prescott’s work from this era is known for celebrating American cultural hotspots, with Miami being one of his most iconic subjects. In terms of condition it has some minor marks throughout from age/use. There is a neon lighting component but we are not sure if that is in working condition or not. The size is 39.75” X 43.75”. The base is 26”W X 11.75”D.
Our pieces are new or showroom floor display furniture and decor. While they have not been previously owned, some floor models may show minor signs of showroom handling such as light surface wear or small cosmetic imperfections.
We make every effort to describe items accurately and provide clear, detailed photos, but we encourage buyers to review the images carefully and ask questions prior to purchase if additional clarification is needed.
Beauty and condition can be subjective. While we strive to highlight both the strengths and any notable imperfections, minor cosmetic variations may be present.
