Design & Aesthetic
First introduced in 1937 by renowned designer Harold Holdway, the Queen's Bird pattern (Y4973) debuted at the British Industries Fair where HM Queen Mary personally purchased a set and granted permission for its regal naming. The central motif features a vibrantly hand-decorated songbird perched gracefully among trailing botanical greenery, pulling direct inspiration from early antique Dutch Delft pottery designs. Crafted from fine Imperial Ware stoneware with a soft blue-gray/cream glaze finish, the elegant silhouette is framed by a signature hand-painted cobalt pinstripe around the flared rim and base. It serves as a beautiful accent piece for English cottage, traditional, or Grandmillennial spaces.
