It weighs only 4 and a half ounces. The box is decorated throughout with traditional Persian Khatam marquetry micro-mosaic inlay and retains its original locking clasp and rich red velvet-lined interior. The lid depicts three mounted riders engaged in a polo match, surrounded by stylized trees and landscape details. The riders are elevated, visible in the 5th picture. The artwork appears signed in Persian script translating to “Amir”. Fine geometric Khatamkari decoration covers the sides and borders of the box, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship for which Iranian decorative arts are known.
