The profile is carved in high relief from solid marble and displays refined neoclassical modeling, with the face and neck polished to a soft sheen while the hair and surrounding field retain a more textured sculptural finish. The inscription at left appears to read “SUPERBIA,” further supporting an allegorical interpretation.

The plaque’s irregular hand-shaped perimeter and substantial marble construction lend it the appearance of an excavated fragment while remaining a decorative work created during the enduring fascination with Classical antiquity in late 19th- and early 20th-century Europe.
