This functionalist sofa is a monumental and exceptionally rare piece of furniture designed in the pure Bauhaus style from the 1930s. This extraordinary model was manufactured in Czechoslovakia by the renowned Robert Slezák company, whose factories ranked among the absolute European elite in the production of bent steel furniture. The sofa represents the perfect essence of period avant-garde aesthetics – merging the architectural rigor of metallic lines with ultimate comfort and luxury.
The centerpiece of the sofa is its impressive tubular chrome-plated steel frame, which has been professionally polished to a brilliant mirror finish during a comprehensive restoration. The dynamically curved tubular steel armrests and side frames lend this substantial piece of furniture a signature sense of lightness and elegance.
The entirely new upholstery is handcrafted and covered in genuine, very high-quality Italian leather in a deep black shade, which is exceptionally soft to the touch and ensures outstanding durability. The seating configuration features separate backrest cushions and stylish accessories, including a wedge bolster and two cylindrical bolster pillows, allowing for versatile and highly comfortable lounge options. This impeccably restored collectible statement piece serves as a premier investment item that will become the definitive anchor of any prestigious salon, modern villa, or luxury executive office.
According to the original process, our professional refurbishing team in Czechia has restored and reupholstered the item.
This item features classic Bauhaus design elements. Elements of this style are neutral colors and occasional bright primary colors. Bauhaus designers avoided the fussy and pretentious, looking for clean, modern lines. Perfect for a timeless yet modern look. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
