The set … Read more These are traditional Navajo sand paintings, which are sacred, temporary works of art originally created for healing ceremonies.
The set features "Yei" or "Ye'ii" figures, which represent holy ones, often arranged in a "whirling" configuration to represent the four cardinal directions. Medicine men originally created these using colored pigments on the ground during healing ceremonies to summon holy entities and restore cosmic harmony.

These pieces are vintage, likely from the mid 20th century. They are framed in dark oak wood, commonly used for Southwestern decor. The size is 7 in x 7 in., although the size varies slightly by 1/8in on one of the frames. This is for a set of 4, each signed by the artist. They are in very nice condition.

Although these are meant to be a set, there are minor differences. The mats are slightly different in color, and the sizes are ever so slightly different. Please see the photos.
