Antique faux bamboo mirror with original mirror plate and planked back, entirely in Chinoiserie style; this style was very popular during the Art Nouveau period. Originating from France, this piece dates from around 1900.
This beautiful wooden frame has been carved and worked to resemble real bamboo, hence the name faux bamboo. This piece bears a very beautiful weathered patina of age; the mirror glass is slightly speckled, which is common with very old mirrors.
In very good antique condition, with light signs of age and use consistent with its age. There is a small chip from one end of the wooden frame, but it is barely noticeable as it is located on the back. Check the photos for more details!
