That's what its original owners did: a prizewinning writer and her financier husband, their Classic Six overlooking Central Park.
Remarkably: despite their famed lavish, raucous entertaining of New York's literary and artistic elite, the settee -- poised by the doorway, where it ended up covered by packages, hats and, once the racks were overflowing, the last coats -- the grey-green virgin suede remains as-new, and the walnut in nearly mint condition.
Among all of our finest holdings over the years, this piece may prove the hardest to part with. In fact, we've debated it. But we are simply running out of room.
