The vintage box is … Read more 1930s Japanese storage box (Showa period) with traditional tea ceremony tools for the preparation of matcha. The vintage box is a faded red color, but the ceramic/lacquer pieces are new with various designs/patterns (see below and photos). The box contains shelves for each of the elements and a top drawer for the tea scoop. It is a unique piece for the collector of Japanese ceramics, a one-of-a-kind design element for a home/space or for a tea enthusiast.

- Mizusashi: Blue and white porcelain water jar
- Chawan: Two tea bowls are included - one is a modern ceramic design and the deeper bowl features purple irises
- Hishaku: Ladle made of bamboo
- Chawan (for storage of matcha): black lacquer with design of golden pine needles
- Chashaku: bamboo tea scoop

The set was purchased at Takashimaya New York in 2008. The store tag is still attached.
The box itself reflects its age with several knicks on its removeable front door (see photos). The ceramics are in perfect condition/never used. See less
