Jansen is a name synonymous with high style and chic interiors. It was a design house established in 1880's Paris by a Dutch entrepreneur, Jean-Henri Jansen. By the 20th Century, Jansen had offices all over the world and the firm was recognized as an important arbiter of taste and refinement. The Jansen 'look' often incorporated 18th Century neoclassical style but always with a modern aesthetic and often a theatrical flourish. This 2006 publication from Acanthus Press was compiled by design historian, James Archer Abbott, and features descriptions and photographs of 29 Jansen led projects including private residential and commercial. Some of the notable projects include the Parisian residence for the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, the U.S. White House for the Jacqueline and John Kennedy and the New York showroom for Harry Winston Jewelers. There is also a section devoted to Jansen's original furniture creations...I have often heard pieces referred to as 'Jansen style' and these photos and renderings speak volumes about what defines that aesthetic. The hardbound book is beautifully printed with a linen cover accompanied by dust jacket and features the authors signature and dedication to the former owner.
Great condition. There are some subtle marks to the dust jacket though nothing objectionable. As mentioned, there is a personal dedication written by the author on the title page.
Measures 12.5" tall x 10.5" wide x 1.25" deep.
