I wanted to explore the subject through a more modern lens, using atmospheric color to capture the fleeting quality of these blooms.

Poppies have always fascinated me because, in sunlight, their petals resemble crinkled tissue paper—lightweight, translucent, and almost impossibly delicate. I tried to capture that quality in this painting through layered paint applications, allowing the blooms to feel luminous and full of movement.

The palette of fresh yellow-greens, coral oranges, soft blush pinks, and crisp whites creates an uplifting, almost electric atmosphere. The contrast between the vivid flowers and the restrained white urn allows the composition to balance energy with elegance.

With over 27 years of experience as a graphic designer, art director, and creative director, her work reflects a refined understanding of composition, color, and visual storytelling.
