This exquisite set of twelve antique English fine porcelain salad or luncheon plates was produced by Cauldon Ltd. in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Dating to the early 20th century, this complete botanical series (Pattern No. 2483) features twelve distinct, vividly detailed, hand-colored floral specimens, making it an exceptional find for both collectors and sophisticated table settings.
Each plate is beautifully anchored by a rich, centrally positioned botanical illustration—including masterfully rendered roses, violets, morning glories, pansies, and chrysanthemums—set against a clean ivory ground. The wide, architectural shoulder of each plate is defined by a deeply embossed basketweave or rope-style radiating texture, accented by an intricate raised beaded rim and finished with an elegant scalloped edge.
The reverse of each piece bears the standard period crown backstamp: “Cauldon England, Est. 1774, Made in England,” alongside the handwritten pattern registry numbers. The ivory glaze retains an excellent, luminous luster. As is typical and expected with English earthenware and porcelain of this era, some light, age-appropriate crazing is visible upon close inspection, along with minor factory-inherent glazing irregularities on the undersides. There may be occasional faint, localized shelf wear on the unglazed foot rings or negligible fleabites on the scalloped edges, but the set is free from major restorations, severe cracks, or heavy staining. A remarkably well-preserved century-old set. Good Vintage/Antique Condition The set presents beautifully with vibrant, crisp hand-colored floral transfers that show very minimal surface wear. The ivory glaze retains an excellent, luminous luster.
