A remarkable example of vernacular craftsmanship, the piece is largely formed from a hollowed tree trunk, whose naturally curved shape creates the sides and back of the cabinet.

The front opens through a single door mounted on traditional iron hinges, revealing an interior fitted with two shelves. Simple joinery, original hardware, visible tool marks, and the natural irregularities of the wood all attest to its entirely handmade construction.

Typical of the folk furniture found in Ardèche and the Cévennes, this type of cabinet was traditionally used for storing foodstuffs and everyday household items.
